The Governed Capital Papers
Seven Papers on Governed Capital, GC-Yield, Equity Capital, and the Node Architecture — The Complete Series
Dr. Glen Brown, President & CEO, Global Financial Engineering, Inc.
Every institution can answer how much capital it has. Almost none can answer how much capital it governs. The Governed Capital Papers give that second kind of capital its name, its grammar, and its doctrine — the distinction between capital owned and exposure governed; the measurable yield by which a venue converts one into the other; the node as the minimum viable presence in a market; ruin as a priced and declared state rather than a failure; the seed as a real option on a venue-regime pair; the fleet as a vintage structure; and the deliberate arrangement of who governs last. Seven papers, one vocabulary, one claim: the second kind of capital deserves the same rigor the first has always received. The series publishes principles and withholds machinery; where a number is needed, it uses a declared convention and says so.
The Seven Papers
Paper I — Two Kinds of Capital
Capital You Own, Capital You Govern, and the Conversion Between Them
The foundational distinction: Equity Capital as the substance where survival lives, Governed Capital as the headcount of exposure answering to the institution’s law — and leverage reframed not as risk appetite but as a conversion performed by a venue.
Paper II — The Yield of a Venue
One Signal, One Size, Two Venues — and the Conversion Rate That Decided Everything
GC-Yield defined: the measurable, class-specific rate at which a venue converts posted capital into governable exposure — measured, never assumed — and the organizing question every institution should ask before every venue decision.
Paper III — The Node
The Minimum Viable Presence in a Market — and Why Its Cost Matters More Than Its Size
The atom of institutional presence: a complete body of law in a vessel of two hundred units, and the constitutional claim that a low enough floor makes independence a fact of arithmetic rather than a policy of resolve.
Paper IV — Ruin, Priced
Ruin Acceptance as a Declared Doctrinal State — and the Honest Accounting That Separates Doctrine from Bravado
The contrarian paper: ruin budgeted rather than denied or fetishized — declared in advance with scope, price, and recovery mechanism, and priced at full size, including the ways a node can die of being small rather than of being wrong.
Paper V — Seeds as Options
The Seed Node as a Real Option on a Venue-Regime Pair — Exercised by Evidence, Never by Desire
The allocator’s model: the seed as a perpetual real option — premium the minimum floor, exercise a capital addition, trigger demonstrated capture and nothing else. Presence first, cheaply; proof second, patiently; capital third, decisively.
Paper VI — The Vintage Fleet
Time Diversification, the Human Allocation Layer, and Why Correlated Shock Is Not Correlated Ruin
The diversification nobody sells: vintages as the fleet’s temporal structure, the new front as the sovereign answer to shock, and the constitution of the whole architecture — the machine never makes capital decisions; the human never makes market decisions.
Paper VII — Margin Sovereignty
Who Governs Last? The Guardian-Ordering Principle, and the Arrangement the Whole Series Was Building
The capstone: every account lives under two bodies of law, and one fires first. The inversion told as parable, the ordering arranged by engineering, and sovereignty defined at last — the arrangement by which no one else’s rules are reached before your own.
The Arc, Complete
The series concluded in July 2026 with all seven papers published. The question it leaves with the reader is small enough to carry anywhere: for every account you are responsible for — whose circuit fires first? Compute it. It is arithmetic, not philosophy, and it takes a morning.
